Ok,
grab a cuppa, and a munchie, and let's go!!
Please
remember to save your work often.
Remember to name those layers. If you
feel you have messed up, remember that UNDO is your bestest friend!!
Open
up the template in PSP and Shift+D to duplicate it. Close the
original. In the Layers Palette delete the credit layer and hide all
the text layers. Go to IMAGE>CANVAS SIZE and resize the canvas to
800 x 800 px. This should provide us with plenty of working space,
and we will resize later.
Starting
from the bottom template layer and working up....
Open
PP04. Right click and choose Copy.
Back
to your template
click
on layer 1. SELECTIONS>SELECT ALL, SELECTIONS >FLOAT,
SELECTIONS>DEFLOAT. Create a new Raster layer. Right click on the
template's canvas window and choose PASTE>PASTE INTO SELECTION.
SELECTIONS>SELECT NONE. Right click on that paper layer and
MERGE>MERGE DOWN.
Click
on layer 2. Select all, float, defloat. Create new layer. Right click
on the canvas window and Paste Into Selection. Select None. Merge
down.
Following
the same steps as you did for layers 1 and 2, do the same thing for
layer 3 and 4 using PP03, and layers 5 and 6 using PP05.
Got
the hang of it? Good. Let's keep going!!
Using
the same steps use PP02 on layers 7 and 8.
On
Layers 9 and 10 use the same steps except use the grey color from
your swatch provided in the kit. You can grab the color by using the
Eye Dropper Tool in your Tools Palette. Then use your Paint Bucket to
fill the selections. The go to ADJUST>ADD REMOVE NOISE>ADD
NOISE 50%, RANDOM, MONOCHROME CHECKED. For both of those layers.
Select none.
Layers
11 and 12 use PP01
Layers
13 and 14 use same steps as 9 and 10 only using the color red from
the swatch.
Layer
15 use PP07 and on layer 16 the only thing you need to do is change
the Blend Mode of the layer to Luminance ( Legacy ) and lower the
layer opacity down to 20.
Keep
it goin' now, Layer 17 select all, float, defloat, add new layer
paste PP09 into selection, this time leave it selected and go to
EFFECTS>3D EFFECTS>DROP SHADOW with these settings:
Vertical
0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100 and Blur 20, with the color Black. Now
select none. Change the Blend Mode to Multiply.
Do
the same with layer 18 as you did with layer 17 only using PP10.
Using
the same shadow settings as above only changing the opacity to 80,
click on each layer individually and add a drop shadow. Do not add
the shadow to the text layers.
Click
on the very top Layer. It should be a text layer. Copy and Paste your
tube as a new layer. Resize your tube down by 60%. Duplicate your
tube and hide the duplicate. On your original layer go to
EFFECTS>PLUGINS>XERO>NOSTALGIA with the following settings
Then
go to plugins Alien Skin 5 Impact Perspective Shadow with these
settings
Unhide
your top layer and go to BLUR>GAUSSIAN BLUR and blur by 2. Lower
the opacity of the layer to 40. With your Eraser Tool at a soft small
setting, erase some of the flames on the cauldron to sharpen it up a
bit.
Unhide
the first three text layers. You will see that they are all linked
together. With your Move Tool move the layers up and to the left. See
my tag for placement or place them where ever you wish.
Open
the bottom three text layers and move the text under the other. Add
any effects that you wish to add to them. I decided to keep them at
the original colors and formatting. I did however add another drop
shadow to the shadow text layers of the template.
Now
let's do a little clean up before we get to adding elements. Did you
remember to name your layers? This is where naming layers become
especially handy! Hide all layers. Open your two tube layers, right
click on one of them and merge visible. Close the layer.
Unhide
all the text layers and merge visible. Close the layer.
Unhide
all the layers that have to do with the large rectangle, including
the stripes and the corresponding papers. Merge visible.
I
am stopping there for mine so I can layer elements but you can keep
merging if you want. It all depends on how you want your elements
added.
Now
for the elements. I am not going into what elements I used. Play
around on your own. After all this is only a tutorial, be creative.
Drag and drop or copy and paste your elements as new layers. Just
remember these tips.
Resize
any elements to your liking, just remember to sharpen them after you
resize and BEFORE you add any effects to them. Same thing goes if you
rotate any elements.
Layer
your elements under and/or over other elements to give it some
depth/effects. Do this by dragging your layers in the layer palette,
either up or down.
Add
various drop shadows, this will also give your elements some depth.
You can also add noise, glows, or even bevels!
Now
it is time to crop. Click on your Crop Tool, up in the Settings Menu
click on the button that says Merged Opaque. It should be the last
button.
Now
add your © info and your name as new layers. Add any effects to your
name that you wish to add.
Export
as PNG and you are finished!! Aww, way too cute!! Thanks Jean for the
great kit!!
